- Note: Albert Gallatin Hawes Jr.; he was born in 1842, Daviess County. He enlisted as a private in the War Between the Sates on October 5, 1861 (from a report of Confederate Kentucky Volunteers). " He fought at the Battle of Shiloh with his Hawes and Taylor cousins, and his Uncle William Hawes." Written by Maria Southgate Hawes in her "Recollections".
He married Emma Throckmorton in 1870. He and his wife are buried in one grave which is unmarked. From an Owensboro newspaper, 1892 states, "Mr. and Mrs. Ab Hawes died of Typhoid fever in a few hours of each other.
